Onalaska Fire Department was called to an garage fire that occurred on Vilas street Monday afternoon.
The fire, according to Onalaska’s Fire Chief Pete Fletty began shortly after 12 noon. It appeared that the fire had started in the garage.
Holmen Fire Department responded as well to this call, because it was a request for mutual assistance.
The fire did not cause any injuries and no pets were found in the home.
Fletty stated that the result was positive due to both departments’ quick responses.
Fletty stated, “I believe this was a positive outcome given that we were able to see smoke and flames.” The garage was nearly completely engulfed by the flames, as they were on the west side of the house. The fire was threatening the home, but our crews were able to stop it and limit damage.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of this fire.
