Gugu Sisilana, spokesperson for eThekwini said that the reduction of water pressure in most reservoirs was due to ongoing repairs following storm and flood damage.
This restriction, starting on Tuesday at 9pm and lasting until reservoir levels are recovered, will last from that time.
It said in a statement issued jointly with Umngeni-uThukela that there had been a power failure at Durban Heights, which caused system disruptions.
The restrictions placed on residents of eThekwini were also due to a lack of oversight.

The report said that the problem was caused by “a lack of monitoring and management”.
