The Delaware jury began its deliberations on Monday after hearing closing arguments in the case of the suspected serial killer charged with the murder of six individuals in Delaware and Pennsylvania between 2021 and 2022.

Keith Gibson (41), of Philadelphia is accused of murdering Leslie Ruiz-Basilio (28) and Ronald Wright (42) of Wilmington, both killed during separate robberies. The charges include attempted murder for the shooting at Wilmington clerk Belal Almansoori and armed robbery.

In the meantime, the Philadelphia District Attorney has approved charges of murder against Gibson for the killings his mother, the Philadelphia Doughnut Shop Manager, and two men who were found dead in a Germantown store. The authorities say that they plan to pursue these charges once Gibson has been prosecuted by the Delaware state attorney.

The Delaware prosecutors have heavily relied on the video footage of Ruiz Basilio’s robbery and Almansoori’s shooting. The prosecutors also claim that ballistics links Ruiz Basilio’s and Wright’s shootings and the revolver found when Gibson was arrested.

A surveillance video from Elsmere, Metro PCS, shows Ruiz Basilio confronted and pushed to the rear of the store by a man with a weapon on May 15, 2021. Ruiz Basilio’s arms are raised when the gunman shoots Ruiz in the head from point blank range. The gunman then leaves the store, stealing cash and mobile phones before driving away in her vehicle. Later, the stolen car was recovered near Gibson’s house in Philadelphia.

Almansoori is shown lying down on the ground in his shop, pretending to die after being shot by a gunman on 6 June 2021. The gunman, who had stolen several items before shooting the teenager in the face, then leaves. The gunman then turns around and fires again at Almansoori as he is leaving. Almansoori was able to survive and give testimony in Gibson’s case.

Almansoori, a day after Wright’s death in Wilmington at his residence that prosecutors claim was a “drug den”, was found by Gibson with the shoulder bag where Wright allegedly kept his drugs.

On the day Wright was killed, Christine Lugo (40) was attacked by a man as she was opening a Dunkin’ shop in North Philadelphia. The police say Gibson shoved her into the shop, stole about $300, and then shot her once in her head. This was also caught on video surveillance.

The prosecutors say that the ballistics evidence, the clothing, and the other pieces of evidence, such as a bike belonging to Gibson, found in the vicinity of the cell phone store, all fit together into a “clear picture” showing Gibson, the “gloved-up, masked-up” gunman, responsible for each crime. Amanda Masteller is a close friend of Gibson’s and she identified Gibson as the gunman seen on surveillance video from each shooting scene.

John Downs, the prosecutor told the jury: “You all have these similarities.”

The defense attorneys did not present any evidence and called no witnesses. They tried to undermine the prosecution by interrogating witnesses and noting that DNA or fingerprints could not be used to link Gibson with the crimes.

Megan Davies, the defense lawyer, told jurors on Monday that there were many missing pieces in this puzzle. These missing pieces are the reasonable doubt.

Gibson, also known as “the Beast,” has been accused of launching a violent spree shortly after he was released from prison in Delaware where he spent about 13 years on charges of manslaughter. He had previously served time for possession of firearm during the commission a crime. Authorities arrested the man who had one of the stolen cellphones after the robbery. The device contained Gibson’s number as well as a contact called “Beast”.

Gibson was arrested in 2021 after he robbed a Wilmington Rite Aid, where a clerk handed him a package of money containing GPS tracking devices. Gibson, when arrested by police, was wearing body armor. He also carried ammunition which prosecutors claim matches bullet fragments discovered at both murder scenes. Near the place where Gibson was arrested, prosecutors found a revolver they claim was used to shoot the victims.
