A fire in Arthur has forced the eviction of tenants after it ravaged an apartment.
Just before 12 noon on Thursday, firefighters were dispatched to a building located at Charles Street. There were no injuries.
When we first arrived we noticed smoke from the eaves and, when we turned around and went to the Charlie-side of the building we found flames coming out of an open window, said Marco Guidotti.
A video taken by the viewer shows fire shooting from one of the second-floor windows of the building.
On other photos, thick smoke is seen billowing out of the windows and roof.
Guidotti stated that two fire departments attended, Wellington North Fire Department and Minto Fire Department. About 25 firefighters attended the scene.
According to the fire department, the fire is believed to be confined to one apartment on the second floor. It may have begun in the kitchen.
The Minto Fire Department spokesperson said that the units had suffered smoke and water damages.
It is unclear exactly how many tenants are affected. Businesses will not be able operate, according to fire officials. It is unclear how long this situation will continue.
