Rescue services said that in the last 24 hours, more than 6,000 individuals and 455 pets were evacuated from various districts of Punjab after the Sutlej River’s strong currents reached adjacent areas.

Relieved activities

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority said earlier in the day that areas near the Sutlej River have been battling floods since August 17.

The report stated that 95 camps were set up in the province to provide medical services for people living in districts affected by flooding. In case of emergency, 20 ambulances are on call.

The PDMA stated that over 36,000 patients have received medical care so far. In addition, there are 178 camps of relief in the districts affected.
