Property manager shares the painful moment that she assisted a tenant to move out from a rental property in the face of the country’s worsening housing crisis.
Ashleigh, also known as perthpropertymanager, was tasked with evicting the tenant of one of her clients. The owner, if not reclaimed, would be left homeless.

Standing outside a rental, Ms Goodchild begins her video by saying: “I’m at a place where the locks are about to be changed.”
“The tenant has defaulted.” We have done our best to negotiate.
She said, ‘I just wait for the locksmiths to gain access so I can check out what’s inside.’
When she arrived, the manager was unsure of what to expect. However, she did hope that all furniture had been removed by the tenant as she knew a cleaner would be booked.
‘So, fingers crossed. “Come and join me,” she replied.
Following the conversation, we see Ms Goodchild returning to her desk visibly upset.
“That was the hardest thing I ever had to deal with,” she told me.
It was a surprise that the tenant had returned home.
“I just sat there with her and talked, to try to help her feel better, about what would be happening,” she explained.
After a few hours I had her leave the premises.
It wasn’t pleasant, but I had to do it today because that’s what my job was.
Although it wasn’t a very kind thing to say, the property manager expressed sympathy for her, saying that she was young, and would be fine.
The situation was described by Ms Goodchild as a small speed bump in her tenant’s daily life.
